Beautiful Nikko

What’s that? Two photo posts from Japan in a day? The world must have gone mad. As per usual, the full Nikko set can be seen on Flickr.

Golden Temples

Another day, another set of Nikko photography. Nikko was amazing because unlike the majority of temples and shrines in Japan they’re gilded. This makes them luxurious, beautiful and stunning all in the same breath. Some of the minor details were amazing, especially on the famous three monkeys below. There are more photos over on Flickr.

More Nikko Photography

I’ve got two more photos to share with you from Nikko. The above is an awesome 5 storey pagoda (shame about the really overblown sky). The second is better, and looks very good in B&W when it’s compared to the original photo.

I absolutely adore the above photo. It was taken in Nikko, north of Tokyo. The colours are incredible and they contrast so well against the dusty green of the gong.
In other news, I started over at Macgasm today. I also wrote about the new Icelandic volcano.
