Zooma

Hurray! I made it to the zoo and yes, the photography came out OK. The Frog vs. Snake one at the top is one of my all time favourites, along with the monkey family. Anyway, it was another weekend of films, beating last week by one. I ended up watching six in a weekend:

  • The Sitter (Cinema)
  • The Red Balloon
  • Cyrus
  • Total Recall
  • Bad Lieutenant (2009′s)
  • The Big Lebowski

Fierce Street Photography

Love both of these. I’ll start a new 2012 showcase soon. They’ll also be posted on Faces of London. More here and here.

Instasky

There’s a lot said for Instagram and similar iPhone services. They’re destroying photography!, cynics cry. They’re nothing but a gimmick! On the contrary, they’re extremely popular and introducing people into photography. Yes, fancy filters reduce the skill required for photography, but at the end of the day, sharing the passion is more important than how you capture an image. Times change, deal with it.

Anyway, above is an Instagram shot – one I’d not have captured on my standard camera because it was a fleeting sky. Go figure.

Merry Christmas

Hello! Did you know? It’s something called Christmas at the moment. Yes, another one!

The scariest thing about this website is the speed of which time flies. If my memory serves me correctly, I started this in late 2008 to showcase my work from Avid Gamer. It’s obviously changed since then, as has my life, but what’s interesting when I take a look at everything is just what I’ve moved towards. PR, Photography, travelling.

As is customary over Christmas (I’m not back in the office until the 3rd January) is the annual electronic clear out. I’m going to be cleaning up the website, replacing photos I’ve stolen from other sources with my own, fixing dead links and removing early posts that don’t lead anywhere.

I’ll also be writing about RAGE, Saints Row 3 and Metro 2033 on The Steam Project. Game number 9 turned up on Christmas Eve with Orcs Must Die!. Film wise I’ve already caught The Thing (1982) and Made in Dagenham.

I’ve also booked my flights to Barcelona at the end of January, and Lisbon with friends for the start of March. Anyway, thank you for sticking with me and here’s to a healthy and successful 2012.

I Have A Nikon D7000

Surprise! I have a new camera. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, my beloved Nikon D5000 was taken from me. Alas, don’t pine because it means I now have a shiny new D7000 with a 18-110mm kit lens! Hurray! After what seems like months (it was months), I’ve got the real urge to get back into photography. Today was the first day I had to play with it and I’m pretty pleased with the results. It’ll take a while before I get back into the swing of things (and before I get to grips with it), but it seems like it won’t be long before I shake off the rust.

Full set here.
