Day 13 – Nagasaki Humidity

8.50AM, Akira – I’m out for a full day sightseeing around the Dutch Quarter, Shianbashi and Chinese sector.

12.40PM, Near Shianbashi – This morning I stumbled across a New Zealand girl (Hi Kylie!) who was going on a local tour with a Japanese woman. She asked if I wanted to cone along so never one to decline company, I said yes. Nagasaki is beautiful – it’s build upon the mountainside and from the top of the lookout we could see over the whole city.

It was a nice start to the morning, if a little humid. We parted ways after that – I went down to the Market area, grabbed some lunch and then ventured into Chinatown. Up a quiet street some Japanese man came and said hello, before asking me to lunch. I said I’d eaten, to which he kept repeating ‘you want lunch?’ I tried to get round him but he kept blocking my path, laughing. I can’t tell if he was malicious, just finding everything funny, or mental – he did have a slight case of the ‘crazy eyes’. After I managed to get clear he just disappeared up the road.

2.07PM, Glover Garden – Nagasaki had a strong Dutch influence and I’m in some garden that’s nice. It’s been trying to rain all day.

5.21PM, Akari Hostel – Back chilling. Glover Garden was cool and I might go explore with my camera before it gets dark. Osaka’s tomorrow, and a long 5 hour train journey, thankfully only with two changes. It rained all evening.
