Day 7 – Kyoto Tourist Traps

8.35AM, Kyoto Station – I’m just waiting for my tour to start and there’s only a couple Spanish people with me at the moment. It probably means it’ll be a cosy one. On second thoughts, they might be Mexican.

Today is the first day that looks like it’ll have rubbish weather. It’s supposed to shower all day, and it’s noticeably cooler. Hopefully it’ll stay dry, otherwise they’ll have to be umbrella photography.

It’s annoying because I’m seeing the best Kyoto has to offer today.

12.33PM, Kyoto Handicraft Centre – We’ve stopped for our western style buffet lunch. Annoyingly the Imperial Palace is closed on Sundays so we did the temple where I listened to Ray again. After that we saw Nijo Castle, and then the beautiful Golden Pavilion (photographed above).

The guide wasn’t great so I walked off most of the time. I’ve been chatting with a couple of Aussies who are cool. It just started raining, so hopefully it’ll stop soon.

After lunch we saw a shrine with a cool garden and some turtles in its lake. Following that we drove to an amazing temple with 1001 statues inside. Sadly you couldn’t take any photos.

The last place was cool; a temple at the top of the mountain.

Tonight I’m just chilling in the bar – I promised to keep in touch with the Aussies, Miles and Frankie.

20th June 2011: Miles never emailed, guess that’s that then.
